It’s 2:00 a.m. as I’m writing this and I have to be at work at 8:00 a.m. Oh, and after spending a year as a writer and editor, it’s also been almost exactly 1 month since I’ve written anything, besides notes taken frantically during training for my new job.

Hi, if you’re new here. My name’s Danielle Ashley and once upon a time I was a blogger and occasional YouTuber. Those things have been put to the side for quite awhile, unfortunately. I miss creating something for myself and putting my thoughts to paper and/or video.

Here’s a little back story:

From October 2016 to November 2017, I was a writer and editor for BroadwayWorld, a dream job that came about during a time where I had to put aside another dream for awhile. And I loved it. I loved being on the inside, growing my writing skills, working with people who had the same interests as me, and getting to work from home. It was awesome, besides being up early for my 5am shift and then holding a second job part time to help pay my rent and keep my third-party employee status for Disney. I loved what I did, but I got worn out, and let my personal blog and channel fall to the wayside. It was my own fault for letting that happen; there was no reason why I couldn’t do it all. But I was tired, confused, and felt like I had nothing else to say. I wrote some random posts that are sitting in the drafts section of my blog, but those will probably never see the light of day (I also read them over recently and they’re just poorly written and sad).

Fast forward to yesterday where I had a conversation with my mother who was asking me if I was doing Vlogmas again this year like I had last December (for those who don’t know, Vlogmas is a YouTube thing were you vlog everyday of December and post it). I had told her I tried to film some things this past week, but just couldn’t get the energy to do so with my new job.

New job? Yes. I left BroadwayWorld last month to go back to working for Disney, this time as a full time reservation sales agent, which in simplest terms is that I’m one of the people you talk to when you call Disney and help book your vacation to Walt Disney World. I’m in training for three more weeks and my schedule is COMPLETELY different than before: usually working from about 2:00 in the afternoon until 11:00 at night. I also don’t sleep properly, meaning I stay up late on nights like tonight and don’t wake up early enough to do anything. This also means Vlogmas videos from me would be pretty boring this year compared to last year. I had thought about creating weekly videos instead and I’ve kinda dropped the ball on that.

But now I’m down to one job and technically should have more time to do the things I let get away from me, right?

Last week in class the quote of the day came from Tiana in ‘The Princess and the Frog,’ who said, “It serves me right for wishing on stars. The ONLY way to get what you want in this world is through hard work.” Say it louder for the people in the back, girl! I always say I’m going to do X, Y, and Z, but never follow through.

But today is different, and here’s why.

I have this beautiful blog my friend created for me that can easily help me get my voice out there. I have a presence on social media that I can easily grow. I live and work in one of the best places on Earth that people love to see and read about. It is finally time for a change.

So here’s to my new chapter that I’m ready to write about again. Get ready for reviews on new experiences, story times, and hopefully some video content as well! All a girl needs to get back to blogging is decent grammar, a smart phone, a computer, and some rose gold Minnie ears (the last one can be optional I suppose), and I’ve got all of those!
